Acne & CBD
In the teenager period, many people have been faced with acne problems with unpleasant consequences. Some recall these years as a real nightmare, while others are still facing with it even in adulthood. Fortunately, today there is a cure for everyone. A recent study published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation and the National Institute of Health found that cannabidiol (most commonly known as CBD) might be potentially effective in treating acne.
According to this study, the team of researchers applied cannabidiol, extracted from marijuana plants, on human sebaceous glands (responsible for cutaneous secretions). Following much testing, the researchers determined that the CBD was able to act as a highly effective sebostatic agent.
According to NCBI (National Center for Biotechnology Information):
“The administration of CBD on human sebaceous glands and on epidermal tissue grown in the laboratory inhibited the lipogenic action of various compounds, including arachidonic acid and a combination of linoleic acid and testosterone, reducing sebum production through activation of the ion channels of the transient potential vanilloid receptor-4 (TRPV4), “the researchers say. In essence, they said that CBD would work very effectively in the suppression of acne-related symptoms.
The findings of the study are that “Overall, our results suggest that, thanks to the combination of lipostatic, antiproliferative and anti-inflammatory effects, CBD offers great benefits as a promising therapeutic agent in the treatment of acne vulgaris.”
The incredible versatility of CBD continues to amaze researchers and curious people who are approaching this cannabinoid. More and more often, exciting news about CBD (and Cannabis in general in the medical field) is coming to us and this study is just another confirmation of its extraordinary properties
